U.S. President Biden on Wednesday, Feb. 24 lifted the previous administration’s restrictions on the granting of immigrant visas for family members other than the spouses and children of U.S. citizens.

This proclamation allows for the granting of immigrant visas for all family members with an approved petition and current priority date, as well as winners of this year’s Diversity Visa lottery.

Note that Presidential Proclamation 10052 remains in place, so the entry of nonimmigrant workers is still suspended.

The Department of State issued guidance for immigrant visa applicants to resume processing of their visas.

These developments will be actively monitored and additional updates will be posted
